Juanita Amenero was born May 5, 1928 in Chiclayo, Peru. She started with her social labor at the young age of 15, realizing she felt it was necessary to help others in any way she could. The gestures, although small, left an impact on those she helped. A bag oF rice to a family who was hungry meant everything. Throughout the years, her gestures continued to grow. She was able to help more and more families. Eventually Juanita was able to host a chocolatada right in front of her home. Seeing children laughing and dancing with their bellies full inspired her to keep this tradition going. Her efforts didn't stop there, Juanita coordinated with a Christian organization who focused on integrating children with disabilities into society. Their mission was to create recreational activities for those who did not have easy access or transportation in order for them to have equal opportunities of growth and development. Her continuous labor and social activities lead to assistance in the build of a small church for the local community. Here, she developed a strong support system she greatly relied on over the years. A strong, determined woman with an enormous heart created what we know today as Juanita Amenero's Foundation. What started off as a chocolatada with 50 children is now an organization tending to around 300 children around the holiday season, young adults in need of financial assistace for college, and families who are financially struggling. The hard work she put in year after year is what made this vision possible.
