What is a chocolatada? Around the Christmas season throughout the country of Peru, families, friends and organizations get together and with their own money, host an event called a "chocolatada". Every chocolatada is different, but the central theme is giving back. For JAF, we target low income areas and bring the children together and provide hot chocolate, paneton(sweet bread), entertainment and gifts. The gift includes clothes, toys and school supplies. Gifts are given according to their age. This event is very important to JAF because it is where we started our charity work. Our founder, Juanita Amenero, held her first chocolatada many years ago in her own home with about 50 children and the economic help of her own children . The amount has now grown to 600 children. It is of great satisfaction to be able to see these less fortunate children enjoy a day full of excitement and happiness.

Juanita Amenero`s foundation continues to place a focus on helping individuals with expenses for their education. Though the foundation is multidimensional, education continues to be an important pillar of the mission. The foundation has accomplished this by placing importance and encouraging higher education to high school graduates despite being low income. This has been done by allotting scholarships to individuals and providing school materials to those who are financially limited.
